Microsoft -Hack the Classroom

I have just attended Microsoft -Hack the Classroom virtual event
It turned to be a truly informative and gave us insight to new and innovative ways of making our teaching more engaging and informative for students .

It started with welcome note by Mr Anthony Salcito (vice president of Worldwide Education at Microsoft) who introduced us about the virtual event facilities like online poll , How to question and collaborate , twitter sharing  etc . and above all  motivated educators to be passionate about bringing positive change in education using technology .

Mr Hadi Partovi( Co founder of Code.org) spoke about  Changing The Face of K-12 Computer Science  using coding . He spoke about the benefits of coding to students . After that Ms Leah Obach shared her experiences of teaching Coding to her Grade 1 Students and how it developed confidence & leadership skills among them .

Ms Rafranz Davis talked about Empowering Students through Minecraft and advices us to let the creativity of students lead and after that Mr.Jeff Kash( MIE expert and educator from north Hollywood) talked about  OneNote Class Notebooks and how it helps in personalised learning . Mike Tholfsen (who is in development team of OneNote) encouraged all educators to try One Note and give feedback for its improvement.

Dale Dougherty( founder of Make Magazine ) told us about Maker movement and How MAKING Can Change Your Mind followed by Panel Discussion hosted by Zak

This virtual event was very interactive as we got chance to ask questions from experts which was asked by Ms Eve Paslti on our behalf . Event was excellently hosted by Sonja Handeland Delafosse .Many of our doubts were asked by live audience who were educators .Also lot of virtual collaboration among participating educators was on in conversation box .

In the end winners of the ‪#ClassHack contest were announced and their videos were shown .( Maria PetreskaKurt Söser and Jim Pedrech )

It was a wonderful opportunity and excellent way to keep us abreast with latest developments .

Thank you Microsoft
