I have just attended Microsoft -Hack the Classroom virtual
event
It turned to be a
truly informative and gave us insight to new and innovative ways of making our
teaching more engaging and informative for students .
It started with welcome note by Mr Anthony Salcito (vice president
of Worldwide Education at Microsoft) who introduced us about the virtual event
facilities like online poll , How to question and collaborate , twitter
sharing etc . and above all motivated educators to be passionate about
bringing positive change in education using technology .
Mr Hadi Partovi( Co founder of Code.org) spoke about Changing The Face of K-12 Computer
Science using coding . He spoke about
the benefits of coding to students . After that Ms Leah Obach shared her
experiences of teaching Coding to her Grade 1 Students and how it developed confidence
& leadership skills among them .
Ms Rafranz Davis talked about Empowering Students through
Minecraft and advices us to let the creativity of students lead and after that
Mr.Jeff Kash( MIE expert and educator from north Hollywood) talked about OneNote Class Notebooks and how it helps in
personalised learning . Mike
Tholfsen (who is in development team of OneNote) encouraged all educators to
try One Note and give feedback for its improvement.
Dale Dougherty( founder of Make Magazine ) told us about Maker
movement and How MAKING Can Change Your Mind followed by Panel Discussion

This virtual event was very interactive as we got chance to ask
questions from experts which was asked by Ms Eve Paslti on our behalf . Event
was excellently hosted by Sonja Handeland Delafosse .Many of our doubts
were asked by live audience who were educators .Also lot of virtual collaboration
among participating educators was on in conversation box .
In the end winners of the #ClassHack contest
were announced and their videos were shown .( Maria Petreska, Kurt Söser and Jim Pedrech )
It was a wonderful opportunity and excellent way to keep us
abreast with latest developments .
